At bli - Dec 2016 & Jan 2017
I have always wanted to complete this course. Now, finally having done it at bli, I wish I had done so earlier :)
I teach at bli. (And at Stageworld - Theatre College & Natyakshetram Temple of Dance - Indian Dance)
I would describe my days as a TEFL teacher at bli thus far as the best days of my life! With no exaggeration, this well-run institution is an absolute pleasure to work for. Each and every day there are challenges to overcome through having to teach various age groups at varying levels of English and foreigners from all corners of the earth. As a native South African, these experiences definitely contain their own lessons withing themselves for me!
I have to teach a Cambridge Advanced English (CAE) syllabus to a highly intelligent Argentinean woman which has proved to be the toughest ongoing challenge for me yet!
I enjoy the look of appreciation and acknowledgement on the face of a student who is struggling to learn another language in another country! I admire these brave souls who travel the world, sometimes alone, to learn English in a foreign country, and to be able to teach them, is the greatest gift.
I would advise future EFL teachers to always be over-prepared in case and also to be extremely humble. Humility and hard-work are two opposing forces which can assist a teacher to go very far in attempting to be a good teacher.
Travel and teach - thanks to bli!
TEFL is a hard-work, fast paced, yet highly rewarding industry. It is not for the faint-hearted, so be prepared! I am grateful for the opportunity to be an EFL teacher for it opens up so many fantastic opportunities.
